Boost U-Values to 0.35 or better. Foil to one side with one layer of polyethylene bubble. Benefits 1BD/A-1 foil to one side with one layer of polyethylene bubble. U-Foil insulation creates a warm roof situation. The system combines two layers of U-Foil. The inner layer acts as not only an insulation but with the combination of U-Foil having a vapour resistance in excess of 500 MNsg-1. A vapour control layer is completed when the joints are taped. To install correctly the bottom layer is to be fixed in position using spacer clips thus creating a 25mm air gap between the two layers of U-Foil. Form a 50mmm lap and tape the joints using 75mm foil tape. The top layer to be pulled taught and fixed with 150mm weathered laps and secured in position with tiling battens. The outer layer combines the insulation purposes plus a tile underlay. To increase the thermal capacity within the structure you can increase the 25mm air gap between the two layers of U-Foil to 50mm and introduce a separating membrane such as single layer aluminium to create two airspaces rather than one, this then enables the layers of U-Foil to achieve the maximum thermal performance. Ufoil not only offers a higher thermal resistance with its vapour resistance in excess of 500MNsg-1 this would then be considered as a vapour control layer as defined in section 1 of BS2520:1989 (1995). Drylining Installation Guide & Example. Ufoil walls Drylining Drylining Installation Guide & ExampleThe depth of the timber battens and metal furrings should comply with BS 8212 : 1995. The depth of the timber battens or metal furrings will determine the air space achieved on either side of the product. 1 Battens tanalised in accordance with BS 5268-5: 1989 (1997) are fixed either vertically or horizontally at 400mm. Battens must always be placed at the top and bottom of the wall and around the perimeter of doors and windows. The product is applied directly from the roll either vertically or horizontally depending on the wall height, pulled tight and stapled onto the battens at minimum 300mm centres. The foil side of material should face the cavity. The product to be butt-jointed onto the battens and sealed using the recommended foil faced to tape, this then enables the product to become a vapour barrier. The plasterboard is fixed over the product and onto the battens in the usual manor. 2 Alternatively the product (foil face facing the cavity) can be retained directly against the wall by the battens at minimum 300mm centres. The plasterboard is placed on top of the battens. Following the above procedure as described above it is possible to fix counter battens in the usual manner. The foil sides of the material will be facing the cavities formed by the use of the battens. Traditional Installation Guide & Example. It is generally recommended that the inner leaf is to be constructed ahead of the outer leaf as this will ensure the laps are weathered to the outside. When constructing the cavity the leading leaf should be constructed to a height of approximately 1.2metre or 4 / 5 blocks above dpc level. The secondary leaf is built up to the top-most line of wall ties. Once the leading leaf has attained adequate strength, the initial run of 2BD/A or 1BD/A is positioned over the wall ties which should be installed in accordance with BS5628-3: 1985, the wall ties assessed in accordance with DD 140-1: 1986. The next run to be installed ensuring a minimum overlap of 75mm, this to be repeated at all horizontal joints. All vertical joints in the product should always be on line of the wall ties, ensuring a 100mm overlap i. 50mm either side of the wall tie, all vertical joints are to be tapped using are special foil tape. The tape should be between 30 and 40 microns. When arriving at door and window openings our U-Foil products can be brought through the closed reveal to act as an insulating dpc. Ufoil 1bd/a-1 has been specially adapted for Timber/Modular Frame structures and will significantly improve thermal insulation reducing the U-Value (thermal transmittance) of new structures. 1bd/a-1 Timber/Modular Frame application has been specially adapted to release moisture, which may build up between the sheathing board and polyethylene bubble. The polyethylene structure has been modified to allow any unexpected moisture to flow between the bubbles and disperse accordingly. 1bd/a-1 is applied horizontally ensuring minimum overlaps of 75mm up against the sheathing board and with the aluminium foil facing the cavity this then maximises the thermal performance of the product.
